Program Highlights
【About Musical Storytelling】
In the temple’s main hall, four contemporary performers reimagine folktales passed down in Japanese homes for generations—such as Kintarō, Momotarō, The Grateful Crane, Kachi-Kachi Mountain, and Princess Kaguya.
Through music, dance, and spoken word, these tales are woven together into a new kind of storytelling experience.
【Unique Setting】
Unlike a traditional theatre, the performance uses no stage lighting or microphones. Instead, you’ll experience the natural interplay of light and shadow in the temple, and the pure, unamplified voices of the performers.
【Free Programs】
Before and after the two performances, enjoy free programs open to all—even without a ticket: casual talk sessions, hands-on workshops, and the “Mukashi Banashi Ichi (Folktale Market),” where you can browse and discover handmade treasures from local artists.
